“Everyday Use” - 500-600 words; 5-paragraph structure (can have more than 5); underline thesis; provide a title; include 1 parenthetical reference (a quotation from internet from a critique that you think is useful about the story); Work Cited (place at bottom of second page). You do not need an outline. Essay contains: 1. Your idea about the story itself—what you think the value of the story is; 2. How it applies to life in general; 3. How it applies to you (write about the item that you have chosen that the story makes you think about—why this is important to you?).
Bring the item that you have written about! The item should be large enough for everyone to see. It should be some item that is very important to you--someone has passed down to you or you hope someone will pass down to you, or something you have that you would like to pass down to your children. This is always such a special time to share with your classmates--and your teacher!
