Preparing for the 1st Proctored Exam

Here are some suggestions on how to prepare for the First Proctored Exam (available from 9/28/15 to 10/4/15):

  • Required: Do the "Unit 1 Practice Test" on MyLabsPlus. You can take the practice test as many times as you want. You must attempt the practice test at least once before you can take the proctored test.
  • Attend the online study session (time & day TBA)
  • Do the "Unit 1 Review Problems for Test" on MyLabsPlus (these are under homework so that you can check each problem as you go)
  • Review homework assignments from Unit 1 and try to figure out what you missed. You may even be able to improve your score.
  • Work in the study plan. You can make it "show you what you need to study" and it will list only problems you missed on quizzes and tests. There is a Study Plan for Unit 1 Proctored Test available that will only show you concepts you have not mastered on a practice quiz or test. Find it under "Tests and Quizzes" or "Study Plan"
  • Do the Chapter 2 Review and Test in the book (remember you have the e-book on MyLabsPlus)
  • Use a calculator that is allowed (like the TI-30XIIS or other non-programmable scientific calculator) while preparing for the Exam so you can get used to it (NO graphing calculators or cellphones allowed on the exam).
  • Refrain from looking at your notes as much as possible when preparing for a math test. The closer you simulate the testing experience, the better prepared and relaxed you will feel when you take the Proctored Exam.
  • Make sure you have made an appointment to take the exam through "SmarterProctoring"

Whatever you do, please take this exam seriously. This exam count 20% of your grade!

Also remember you must get a 70% average on the unit exams in order to pass the class.
