What is involved in taking an online course?
- After you have registered, you will be given a Website address that allows you access to the course. Of course, you must have access to a computer. If you have one at home, you will need to gain access to the Internet through an Internet Service Provider. You are required to activate and use your Hinds email for distance learning courses.
You also need to meet the prerequisites of the course you choose (see online course description for more information about prerequisites)

Hinds Community College has computer and internet usage regulations that you
should read.
The minimum requirements for an online course as listed in the
Distance Learning Student Guide are:
Students must own or have permanent access to a computer with a
consistent internet connection. Maintaining internet access is the student’s
responsibility
Students must activate and use their Hinds email for college-related
communications
Basic Computer Skills
Basic computer skills could include the use of email, navigating search engines,
use of word processing applications, updating your software, ensuring password
security, and the like.
Please be aware that Hinds User Support will send you an email to your Hinds
Community College email account when your My.Hinds password is about to
expire. Your credentials need to stay up to date in order to log in to not only
My.Hinds but Canvas as well. You can sign up for password reset so you can reset
your own password. The IT department is also available at 601-857-3344 to assist
you with password reset problems.
