In order understand the importance of this course, I want you to watch the following You Tube video about the "Day in the Life of a Microbiologist":

There are two main ways you can access the materials for this course: Syllabus and Modules -- Both links are located on the left side your screen.
Syllabus -- This is were the a copy of the course syllabus is located as well as a list of the assignments and tests and their due dates.
Modules -- All the course material is located here and organized by how you will work through the course. Each Module may contain lab experiments, discussion boards, and quizzes or tests. At the bottom of each page, you will see navigation buttons that will take you through the modules IN ORDER. You can go back using the PREVIOUS button or you can go on to the next page in the module by using the NEXT button.
You will need to review the material in the Distance Learning Module first and take the Orientation Survey Quiz. I will use this quiz as your "Attendance" for the first week of class. "Attendance" will be based on the weekly Lab Quizzes or Lab Tests.
Lab Quizzes are due on Thursday's. Lab Discussions and Tests are due on Friday's. Typically, you will have one week to the complete the assignments or take a quiz. Make sure you keep up with your course material. You will need to post information about your Lab Results to the Discussion Board every week. You will need to submit the final results of your lab in a Lab Report. You may have a lab that still in progress when you submit your discussion information (That is okay.).
Proctored Tests: There are 2 proctored lab tests. Each test will have a 2 week testing window. I would recommend signing up for you testing appointment immediately since testing centers fill up quickly, especially at the end of the semester. Not being able to get an testing appointment is NOT VALID reason for missing a proctored test. The Hinds Proctored Test Policy has recently changed. You are no longer to pass at least 1 proctored test to pass the course.
You will sign up for your proctored tests through Canvas by going to the "Smarter Proctoring" link on the left side of the screen.
