Unit 5 Goals and Objectives
1. The student will describe the significance of the poems in the book of Lamentations.
2. The student will explain what Lamentations tells us about conditions in Jerusalem during the Babylonian siege.
3. The student will describe the significance of Cyrus's conquest of the Babylonians for the Jews in exile.
4. The student will describe the sorts of obstacles and opponents which were faced by the returning Jews in Palestine.
5. The student will explain the significance of Ezra’s reforms.
6. The student will explain the significance of Nehemiah’s accomplishments as governor.
7. The student will analyze the way in which Ezra and Nehemiah addressed the issue of foreign wives.
8. The student will describe the literature that makes up the second section of the Hebrew canon.
9. The student will describe Isaiah's call to be a prophet and analyze his message as to whether it was primarily negative or positive?
10. The student will explain the graphic way Isaiah illustrated his prophecy in Isaiah 20.
11. The student will identify and explain the significance of the Servant Songs.
